By bus

The Singapore bus system has an extensive network of routes covering most places in Singapore Chinatown.

Besides being an economical way to get around, it's one of the most picturesque - you can indulge in air-conditioned comfort while admiring the lush greenery and beautiful architecture of our `` city in a garden ''. You can pay for your bus costs using an EZ-Link stored-value card or the Singapore Tourist Pass (STP). Just keep an eye on the electronic card reader - located next to the bus driver - and press when you board.

You can also use your Mastercard® and Visa contactless bank cards issued abroad issued outside Singapore to pay for your journey.

Don't forget to tap your card again on the reader at the rear exit when you get off. You can also choose to pay in cash, but make sure you have the correct amount in cash.

Open strollers are allowed on all public buses, and parents can approach our friendly bus captains if they need help.

Please note that you may have to fold your stroller if the bus has too many passengers. You can check the SBS Transit, SMRT, Go-Ahead Singapore, and Tower Transit Singapore websites for more information and guidelines.

By bike

Cycling around our sunny island is a great way to get your dose of Vitamin D and enjoy the green spaces that dot our city.

Singapore has a well-connected network of cycle paths and you can rent shared bikes from licensed operators or through bike-sharing apps like SG Bike.

Don't hesitate to bring your foldable bike on board our trains and buses, but check if they are too bulky.

By train

Singapore's Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system is probably the fastest way to get around the city. Most of our popular attractions are just a short walk from an MRT station, which makes our trains a great way to get around.

Visitors can use the following options for MRT journeys:

1. Get a Singapore Tourist Pass (STP), a special EZ-Link stored-value card that will allow you unlimited travel for one day (S $ 10), two days (S $ 16) or three days (S $ 20).

The pass can be purchased at the TransitLink ticket office at the selected MRT stations listed here, or at the concession card replacement office at Somerset station. They are also available daily at the STP automated terminals at Orchard station, HarbourFront station, and Changi Airport station (terminals 2 and 3) near the Transitlink ticket office.

2. You can use your Mastercard® and Visa contactless bank cards issued abroad issued outside Singapore for the payment of public transport fares in Singapore.

Please note that administration fees apply to credit cards issued abroad - details can be found on TransitLink's SimplyGo website.

3. Chip card with stored value for adults (EZ-link / Nets FlashPay): these cost $ 12, card value included, and are supplied with a stored value of $ 7 to use when traveling. You can buy this card at any Transitlink ticket office.

By taxi

Taxis are comfortable and particularly practical if you want to go to places not accessible by bus or MRT. Taxis are counted here, but there may be surcharges depending on the time, place and the taxi company you are going to.

To get a rough idea of the final price, check with the driver for the supplements, and ask for a receipt at the end of the trip. You can also check out this website for a quick and easy comparison.

You can hail a cab by the roadside in most places, or queue up at a taxi rank, which you will find at most hotels and shopping center attractions.

Singapore Visitor Center

If you need help or have questions, drop by one of the seven drop-in centers in Singapore.

The reception centers offer a range of useful services and information. You can plan your route, get tips on must-see attractions, buy tickets for sightseeing tours, book accommodation, and even buy a souvenir (or two).
